Rated 4 out of 5 by birdinpvd I don't understand the bad reviews
I am not sure why people have left such negative reviews of this product. You'd think they received sandpaper from their descriptions! It's true, if you are expecting minky, you aren't going to get that kind of softness with this product. But that is the nature of cotton. It is softer than terry cloth, it is really absorbent and I have used it to back bibs, face cloths and burp cloths. It doesn't chafe my baby and she even likes to cuddle with the burp cloths. If you want a natural fiber to back your baby goods, this is as good as it is going to get. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that after a lot of washes, it does stiffen up a bit.

I do not normally write bad reviews but this is a waste of your money. It is not at all soft. I was going to make burp cloths and baby bibs put now I will be making scrub rags for cleaning since the texture is extremely rough.
Disappointing. Should have listened to the other bad reviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LittleLadybuz Great Chenille!
This chenille was exactly what I hoped it would be! I was nervous after reading the reviews, but this chenille was just like what I have purchased in years past at other stores. It is 100% cotton, breathable, absorbent--great for backing bibs, burp-cloths, blankets, etc. It is not as soft as minky, but it isn't supposed to be. It's more like a cut terrycloth and I like it for applications where I want cotton rather than polyester. I love this and will be buying more!

I bought this to back some baby burp cloths and after the cloths were made, I just washed them. After they came out of the dryer, the chenille was very soft. I feel it will get even softer after a few ;more washings. It sews up well and looks really great too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Crafter Very Poor Quality
My chenille came packaged similar to Amy's from Calgary; with black feathers on it. The material is very rough; not what I expected Chenille to be. I'm afraid to wash it because I fear it will simply fall apart. I'm curious as to whether all the Chenille from Fabrics.com is equal in its poor quality. I only see one review on a different chenille.

Rated 1 out of 5 by AmyFromCalgary So disappointing!
Was looking forward to receiving this item to make burp clothes - seen some in local fabric store - but it is NOT SOFT AT ALL, not even nice to touch, almost like an old tired towel...
will never buy this again and would not recommend it at all.
What was even more disappointing? the look of the fabric when I opened the box... see pictures.
Please don't get me wrong: I LOVE most of the products I order from fabric.com, but the packaging and shipping conditions are very poor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by SevSev Course material not soft
After seeing the previous poor review back in May I took a chance hoping that fabric.com took the time to get this product back up to quality, however I was left disappointed. I even washed it following the instructions hoping that it would soften it up, but after the wash it still felt as rough as before. I will not be buying this in the future. I also purchased the navy blue version and this was the same story. The picture on fabric.com really looks like it would be soft but the product that I got for each color was not. I hope this helps future buyers who are on the fence with this purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by LLBB Not like previous order
I ordered this fabric back in August 2012 & was so pleased with what I received! Then I ordered it again in April 2013 & it wasn't the same…not as plush, thick or soft…this order's pile is more coarse & sparse (feels rough) :( See picture. I'm wondering if it is truly 10 ounces…or if it's a different kind of cotton??? Just bummed at the inconsistency...

Rated 5 out of 5 Great material
I use this material for the back of my bibs and burp cloths that I make. It washes up wonderfully and is super soft and also absorbent. Wonderful price, too!
