2022 National Quilting Month Block Party Preview

2022 National Quilting Month Block Party Preview

By: fabric.com

It's been a while since we've had a classic fabric.com quilt block party - so we decided to revamp this tradition to kick off National Quilting Month. Starting Thursday, March 3, visit the blog every other week for two brand new free quilt block patterns. There will be 6 blocks in total! Each was designed by a member of our fabric.com team with varying themes and color ways.

Plus, since a lot of people have taken up sewing in the last couple years each quilt block will be constructed using only half square triangles and squares - making this series extremely beginner-friendly.

With these simple but beautiful modern quilt block patterns, we hope new sewists will be encouraged to try a new skill, and more advanced quilters will be reminded of the beauty of going back to the basics. After all, though half-square triangles and square blocks are simple, there still are endless possibilities for what shapes and patterns you can create with them.

Block Party Prep

We can't wait to share our patterns with you! But in the meantime, we encourage you to gather your materials, and learn about how to construct half-square triangles. Luckily for new sewists, we have a blog post dedicated to half-square triangles (commonly called HSTs for short) and multiple methods for how to construct them.

As for our chosen fabrics, each team member has decided to use different colors of Kona Cotton solids to make their blocks, but you can use whatever quilting cotton you prefer for your desired look or style.
