Welcome to Week 3 of the fabric.com Fall Block Party! Today Jennifer from Ginger Peach Studio is bringing us the Mod Tartan block. This one looks like a woven plaid when finished!

Fall Block Party Mod Tartan

This block is constructed with an emphasis on strip piecing and seam matching. Using this Strip & Slash technique not only helps you build blocks faster, it also reduces cutting time and the amount of raw-edged pieces you'll need to manage during the piecing process.

Rather than making a single block at a time, you will be building all the blocks required simultaneously. When finished, various sized squares and rectangles will create 12" (finished size) blocks.

Fabric Requirements

We chose a fall palette of Kona Cotton solids for our block, and these fabric requirements are for a 72"x72" finished product!

*If you intend to make a single block or the 24" mini version, FQs of each color are sufficient amounts. You will also need a 26"x26" square of batting and a 27"x27" square of fabric for backing.

Supplies Needed

We love Jennifer's take on this quilt block design and how she turned it into an amazing oversized pillow!
