Blogger, author, and teacher, Gretchen “Gertie” Hirsch describes herself as a sewing enthusiast with a love of all things retro. She currently lives in Beacon, New York and enjoys spending her time teaching others about the wonderful world of sewing both in the classroom and on the web. Gretchen’s Butterick patterns make use of her intricate sewing techniques involving both tailoring and corsetry.
Gretchen has been featured in the PBS series It’s Sew Easy, and has found great success through her blog titled “Gertie’s New Blog for Better Sewing.” Gretchen put these experiences to use as she created her premier fabric collection inspired by her unique sensibility.
Gretchen’s fabric line consists of cotton prints, rayon challis, poplin and stretch sateen – all fantastic fabric options to make a Gertie-inspired look or a creation of your own. These fabrics can be paired perfectly with her line of patterns, or Sew Over It Patterns
