Getting Ready Robe

Pattern: Kwik Sew K2325

This Kwik Sew pattern is a workhorse because it comes with three different designs. I sewed up the robe. The robe is a wrap with dropped shoulders and has a neckline band, pockets in the side seam, and a tie belt. It would be perfect for a bride and her bridesmaids to wear while getting ready to look stylish for all those bridal pictures.

You could pick any lightweight woven fabric that has a soft drape for this robe. We went with this White Slipper Satin (the prize point is amazing!), or if you want something even more luxurious we recommend silk charmeuse.

Veil (with Step by Step tutorial!)

While there are veil sewing patterns out there like this McCall’s M4126, did you know it’s also very easy to make your own, DIY veil? All you need is some pretty tulle or lace and a hair comb.

Want to try this project? Here’s a simple tutorial to make this veil:

Materials Needed
Step 1

Take 1 yard of and cut it down the middle of the crossgrain so that it was 1 yard by 30 inches

Step 2

Baste two rows of stitches along the cut edge

Step 3

Gather the lace to the length of the hair comb

Step 4

Hand stitch the lace to the comb so that the right side of the lace will flip over the comb when worn

You could make a classic veil with some white tulle, or pick from the large selection of laces on Fabric.com to come up with your own look. The fabrics pictured below are:

Rehearsal Dinner Dress or Bridesmaid Dress

Pattern: Burda Style Ruffle Wedding Dress 03/2012

This dress is absolutely gorgeous and would make for an amazing rehearsal dinner dress or would look wonderful as bridesmaid dresses.

Wedding DIYs

For a rehearsal dinner dress, select a white silky satin charmeuse like this one and overlay it with this sky blue dobby dot chiffon from Telio. I love that the sky blue color is so subtle that it looks white in most light but would be a fun ‘Something Blue’ for the wedding!

For a bridesmaid dress, I would pair a navy silky satin charmeuse with a dobby dot chiffon but you could pick any color you want! Check out the fabric.com bridal shop for even more fabrics!

Happy sewing for the big day!
