Details

Description: Tru-Grid™ has an accurate 1” graph that allows you to create, duplicate, alter and enlarge craft designs. It cuts, sews and gathers like real fabric. Tru-Grid™ stays “true” to the straight of grain, is strong yet sheer, can be basted and can be tried on. It is not meant to be used as a stabilizer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from For pattern tracing I use this stuff for tracing patterns. I find it useful when I change a pattern from the original. Also useful when I want to use a commercial pattern in multiple sizes, rather than cut the pattern pieces and loose the variants or trace it onto my fabric with mixed results, I create a new pattern piece by tracing the size I want onto the Tru-Grid. I don't need the grid to be terribly accurate. I do use the existing lines to match the grainline marks on the pattern. I also find it easier to match the grain using the tru-grid on the fabric. It does come with some wrinkles, no matter where I buy it. It is difficult to iron because it's synthetic. Low heat is a must for this. I usually "pat" the iron, and don't try to slide it across. I like having a lot of this around for working with clothing patterns or creating patterns of my own for something I'm going to make more than once.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pellon not-so-tru-grid I have really mixed feelings about this product. I've been using it for several months, and I like it enough to keep using what I have left. But the name is very misleading, because the grid is certainly not completely accurate. Also, the roll I received was not nicely packaged-- it was not smoothly wrapped around the roll, and it was compressed by the plastic wrap around it. I've read another review which mentioned poor packaging of some interfacing-- I wonder if this "packing technique" is common on this site? The first bit was so rumpled it needed to be discarded, then deep wrinkles continued throughout the roll. Ironing them out didn't work-- a low temperature did nothing, a high one warped the grid more. So I kind of just try to smooth the wrinkles with my hands and deal with it. However, the product has some great advantages as a tracing material-- it's sheer enough to trace easily, and when placed on the fabric, it has a really great cling which makes pinning/pattern weights totally unnecessary. I just place it on the fabric, pat it down, and cut. I really love that aspect of it... shame about the grid and wrinkles, because otherwise it would be really great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used on school bulletin board I actually used this on my bulletin board at school. I teach middle school math and I made a Cartesian plane with it.
