  • Rated 3 out of 5 by from picture shows wrong side of fabric? I noticed an important thing when I got this fabric: the side of fabric shown in the photo is probably the wrong side. When I examined the fabric, the twill-lines that make it a denim are on the reverse side of the photo. The background is a lighter black with a darker black slant on it. That dark black shown in the photo feels like a wooly nylon and feels like it would catch on things when wearing the garment. So I'm considering it the wrong side. The second thing I noticed is that the stretch does not run across the fabric... it stretches along the length. this is particularly important when sewing jeans. So my pattern layout was rotated 90 degrees. Also—place a pin every inch or so with your straightest pins and leave them in place as you sew. I'm doing this AND using a walking foot and it still wants to stretch. I ironed on interfacing for the pocket opening. To cut this fabric accurately for jeans, I thought it would be better to only cut one layer at a time. It is easy to make a mistake cutting this way, especially when the right side and the wrong side of the fabric are ambiguous. I erred on one pant leg and had to reorder more fabric :( Waiting for more fabric—I will repost when done with the jeans.
