Rated 5 out of 5 by My favourite fabric for leggings for my sensory senstive child This fabric feels like silk with a lovely heavy drape. I have been using it to make leggings and underwear for my daugther for school. She has extremely sensitive skin combined with sensory processing issues which make normal underwear and leggings torture for her. Since I have found this fabric it has been so wonderful. I find it easy to cut out, I sew the leggings without pins straight on the serger and then serge the elastic onto the waistband. The super stretch ensures that the leggings feel comfortable all day and they are wearing extremely well without any pilling or fading despite many many washes. The bamboo rayon is beautiful and breathes well as a natural fibire. I do find that the correct needle needs to be used, like sewing any silky stretch fabric, and to do the hem stabilising with a bit of fusible webbing like Steam-a-seam makes all the difference otherwise this fabric can be a bit tricky to hem as it can stretch out or distort. On a normal sewing machine I recommend a walking foot for the same reason. It serges beautifully and easily I find. Yayy for this fabric. I order it all the way from Australia as I can find nothing like it locally. October 6, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Everything about this fabric is hard. I can't even express how much I hate this fabric. It slides all over the place, shows pin marks, doesn't press well, and stretches out of shape. I had to hand-tack a neckline together because I couldn't serge it, machine-sew it, or even machine baste it. Every step of the sewing process has been truly awful, and now I have a dress that I hate because of the poor sewing experience. Also, it's ridiculously heavy fabric. I would not recommend this.
